He escapes his apartment and eventually coming back he discovers that the monster is gone leaving Viktor in the pain of remorse.

Once he decides to run away to Geneva to forget about what has been done he finds out that his youngest brother has been strangled to death in Geneva.

Victor was the whole reason the creature was created, and therefore was supposed to be his parental figure. After the creature came to life, Victor was disgusted and abandoned the creature leaving him to fend for himself. Although the creature also learned on several occasions how humans could be bad people.

The creature had to learn how to do everything by himself. The creature learned about what family and love are from observing the De Lacey family.
