It took me a while to find the appropriate firmware version of this device.I find DD-WRT's web site a bit chaotic to find the right firmware..I used this firmware load to allow me to assign static IPs, MAC Address Filtering, and reasonably complex Port Forwarding.
The WRT54G has a local address of 192.168.1.1 and assigns all wired & wireless IP addresses from the 192.168.1. Since then I've also gotten standard DSL service from AT&T which uses the typical phone line connection and, this time, a Pace 5268AC Gateway.
Luckily the web interface on the 5268AC is virtually identical to that of the i38HG.
Open your favorite web browser and input your routers ip address in the address bar. In 'Start' & 'End' enter the ports to be forwarded.
Please note that you must have the in order to connect to your router/modem properly. Click here Some router/modems require a username and/or password, if yours requires it, enter the routers username and password here. Example: 2100 to 2200 or 3000 to 3000 For 'Protocol' select the protocol for the ports. Once you have added all your ports click 'Apply Settings' Click To View Full Picture All done!
The 5268AC uses a "Device Access Code" instead which is printed on the bottom of the unit.
Some routers & modems work best with port forwarding if you have a static local IP.Once logged into your router click on the "NAT/Qo S" tab. This week I configured a network with two routers and multiple subnets using DD-WRT. This following graphics represent the physical topology of the network. First step is to replace the stock firmware by a DD-WRT firmware. To my initial dismay, I found that the VDSL modem could not function without the AT&T 2Wire Router. This was a problem for me as the 2Wire Router is limited in functionality and I was used to administering my home network using a Linksys WRT54G with DD-WRT firmware installed.I have also upgraded my router from the WRT54G to a TP-Link TL-WDR3600 with DD-WRT firmware. Not surprisingly the DD-WRT interface is the same on both units. Then click "Save Firewall" to let the router remember about it on the next reboot.Last step is to connect the routers together and test the communication between the two subnets and check if both of them has access to Internet. If you’re running a DD-WRT router, by using DNSMasq the DNS change will work for all devices that connect to your router, including mobile devices. When I moved into my new home AT&T UVerse was my only real option for internet access.
