Civil War Essay Outline

The onslaught was a last attempt by the German soldiers to push the allies to the background since they were increasingly turning out to be real concerns (Adams, 2001).

When Southerners attacked Fort Sumter, many northern politicians rallied around Lincoln.

Democrat Stephen Douglas, whom Lincoln defeated for the presidency, offered the Republican leader his support.

It became obvious that politics would play a major role in military tactics.

Southerners sought their independence and prepared for a defensive battle while Northerners developed offensive campaigns to preserve the Union.

In October 1859, abolitionist John Brown, led a violent attack.

He and his band of 21 men and attacked the federal arsenal at Harpers Ferry, Virginia.The Missouri Compromise really angered the North, contributing to the Civil War.      In May of 1856, Congressman Preston Brooks of South Carolina entered the nearly empty senate chamber and beat Massachusetts Senator Charles Sumner with a cane.Almost everybody had a family, relative, or friend that died in the Civil War.The battle of Marne marked the end of the German onslaught.It was the end of the period when the German domination.The battle took place near river Marne in the Champagne province.The Confederate army lost a total of 258,000 soldiers and the Union army lost 360,000 soldiers.The loss of so many people immensely harmed the nation mentally and economically.During the spring of 1861, the Confederate government voted to move its capital from Montgomery, Alabama to the larger city in Virginia where railroad transportation was more readily available.The move also underscored the Confederacy’s dedication to defend the Upper South.
