This can vary between schools, but you should always have a good, broad study offer, no matter where you are learning! With lots of subjects on offer, how can you decide?

One way to start is by listing all the subjects that are available at your school.

Visits to London galleries will take place in Year 10 and Year 11.

There are lots of opportunities to enter competitions and have your work displayed in local exhibitions, restaurants, libraries, theatres and hospitals.

Each candidate is provided with essential Art kit (£30 approx.) allowing them to continue with their practice outside of lessons. 100 minutes per week and candidate will be expected to produce a minimum of 3 x A3 pages of completed coursework per week. There is a small termly charge for materials from which full Art Scholars are exempt.

You will experiment a variety of art materials including ink, acrylics, oil & chalk pastels, watercolours, collage, printing inks, wire and modelling materials. My opinion: Young people can decide what they want to pick by choosing the options they think will help their future.Do NOT choose your options because of your friends, which teacher or by how hard it is.The new syllabus allows us to structure the course to the individual from the beginning of the two year course.Early in year 10 pupils are introduced to the Coursework theme and then skill-based related projects in Painting and Drawing, Printmaking and Photography enabling all the art staff to teach a broad range of techniques tailored to the ideas of each student.See our photo gallery for more wonderful examples of the artistic talent we have here at Quinton. At 13 or 14 you need to choose what subjects to study at GCSE level. But your teachers are there to help you make the best choices, so you can get the best results at exam time. Then give them a score for what: It is also important to be flexible, and take advantage of what is available.Your choice will depend on what your school can offer, and what your study timetable is.These two projects are assessed and externally moderated forming the GCSE grade.Throughout the course, the pupils are encouraged to explore their own ideas and interpretations as much as possible whilst appreciating and analysing other cultures and other artists' work.
